Do you have a child that wants his independence, but needs a constant reminder to stay by your side? Check out the Little Leader. It is a physical, visual reminder for your child to stay close to you. You can buckle it onto a shopping cart, a stroller, or even your belt buckle. (Please use common sense and do not buckle to a moving vehicle, a dog, a child's neck, etc.) I designed this with my three year old in mind. He is autistic and often does not pay attention when his name is called and he does not like his hand being held, but he wanted some freedom. If allowed to walk on his own, he will run off and must be chased down. Once we started using the Little Leader, outings got a lot easier.
The Little Leader measures approximately 47" long unbuckled (or can be made in a custom length; the gray Little Leader pictured is only 29.25"). The buckle is adjustable, so you can buckle it to a cart, a stroller, your own wrist, a backpack- just make sure it is something safe. ;) I have on occasion looped the Little Leader back through the handle and used the buckle on Elijah's wrist as needed- generally a reminder and a "if you let go again, you will have to get buckled" (ride in the stroller, cart, whatever) works fine. He sees his wrist being buckled as a loss of freedom (since he can't let go) so he is motivated to hold on.
If you wish to order a Little Leader, the cost is $10, including shipping to US (international available, a $2 extra fee will apply). I can do the above colors. The one with the autism puzzle pieces is ribbon sewn on to the poly webbing. I will be doing a pink one with ribbon sewn on as well. Thanks for looking!!
